Here are some examples of my design and programming work. They are presented in loose chronological order, with the most recent first.
If you hover over the images below, a description of the project will appear to the right. Clicking an image will take you to the actual site.
This is the website of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
This was a redesign from a table based layout to a CSS dependent design.
Joyful Noises is the website of Kindermusik® instructor Kim Jewett (who also happens to be my sister-in-law.) This is a simple site that serves as a clearing house for lesson schedules, class descriptions, and contact information.
The markup is clearly laid out so that Kim can easily update information without the need for a full blown content management system.
Sarah wanted a site to promote her singing and song-writing. The site has a schedule of her appearances as well as biographical and professional information.
Visitors can listen to samples from Sarah's latest album. The samples are provided in the form of miniature flash movies which stream mp3s.
The High Sign is a themed weblog. Liz Penn writes about film and the film-going experience in a weekly review that is much more essay than blog post.
The site uses the Movable Type blogging application with customized templates. Liz can easily post her reviews, and receive feedback from visitors, without having to know anything about coding a webpage.
Liz has a loyal following, and if you read some of her reviews, you'll soon realize why.
This is a browser based application that I built for the owner of a guitar instruction school. (The name of the app is a guitar joke. Get it?). The instructor can track attendance and make-up lessons, and quickly generate invoices for students. I hope to have a working demo up here in the near future.
This is an application I built to track my music collection. It uses a PostgreSQL database to organize over 75,000 recordings. Recordings (mostly Jazz) can be found using a variety of search parameters. Demo coming soon.
Above all else I value clarity. The motto of Solid Ether is "The unsimple, simplified."
Sophisticated web technology should accelerate interactions and transactions between people, not create confusion and anxiety.
