Math made art?

Well I finally added something to the Photo Set section of the website but I can’t take credit for creating the images. I have a screensaver called Fracture that I’ve been messing around with, and Fracture created the Fractals Photo Set.
Fracture uses various mathematical algorithms to generate fractal images. Fractals are studied by mathematicians interested in Chaos Theory.
From what I understand about Chaos Theory… Ok, I don’t understand anything about Chaos Theory, but I really like these images. The full size images are enormous, but if you see one that you like, it’s probably worth loading the large version because the details are quite striking.

Can’t seem to find the pictures I think you’re talking about

Ah, more nostalgia. I remember when my dad brought home a printout of the Fractint manual in the early 90’s. I think I still have it somewhere in the basement. We only had a green screen monitor but it was a really mind bending program for exploration of math with computers. I’d say it was the beginning of a career as a wandering mathematician.

what a fantastic website, fractures and all.
i wish i could understand mathematics better, but am stumped already by things such as how chaos could be the object of chaos theory or uncertainty provide an uncertainty principle. i’m too literal perhaps?
speaking of letters, here’s a bit of chaosmos from Finnegan’s Wake. i think it goes with fractals. each time you read them, letters - and time - disperse differently:
If I see him bearing down on me under whitespread wings like he’d come from Arkangels, I sink I’d die down over his feet, humbly dumbly, only to washup. Yes tid. There’s where. First.
